Dinner @ Marche, The Curve

I kept telling FL about the delicious food in Marche after I went with my colleagues last month. He forced me to bring him there, hehe, and of cos, not only bringing him there lar, he also forced me to treat him dinner there. :p So there we go....

FL ordered the sour plum juice, RM 6.50
and I ordered the Tuscani Sparkling juice, RM 5.50
The sour plum juice taste just like 'kat chai xun mei'
except it's much more expensive. hehe..
my sparkling juice were nice though..

Plain Rosti, RM 6.50
the first thing i ordered, even way before i
ordered our drinks. haha..
ooo, i missed Rosti soooooo much!!!!
YUMMY!!!

Beef Jumbo Cheese Hotdog, RM 8.50
I tried the chicken and beef hotdog during my
last visit. nothing special about
the chicken hotdog, but this beef hotdog..
so tasty. Ya i also agree it's quite expensive,
but then it's worth for the price!

Roasted Chicken, RM 16.50
This one.. not nice at all. chicken tasteless,
gravy tasteless too.
should have ordered the pasta la..

Mushroom soup, RM 5.50
this one must try lar.. very very nice!!!

Dinner roll, RM 1.20
soft and nice!

We both enjoyed our meal, except for the chicken lar.. hehe, I used my HSBC credit card to pay cos i thought there will be a 10% discount. Who knows, there's no discount at all! When i asked the cashier about this, he told me only CIMB bank got discount!! Ei, last time I remembered they told us UOB, HSBC and jusco card holder entitled for 10%, now no more? The cashier further explained to me that HSBC, UOB and jusco card only entitled for discount on weekdays, as for CIMB, everyday got 10% discount. Like that also can ar.. so no discount for me lor.. whole meal took us RM 57.16 including tax. Nice meal..

Black Skin Bak Kut Teh (黑皮肉骨茶) @ Kepong Wai Sek Gai

When i first saw the name, i thought it's some kind of special black skin bak kut teh. FL laughed at me and told me 'Black Skin' is just the name of the stall. Oh yes, now i know lar.. :p The stall is located at Kepong, Wai Sek Gai. We were there at about 5:30pm to have our late lunch/early dinner. Consider quite good business, 5 tables were occupied, in fact the whole shop only got less than 10 tables.

As usual, bak kut teh for two person, all lean meat.
taste quite ok, a lot of button mushrooms and meat.

the vege, Po Li Sang choy

We were shocked when they served us the vege. We thought they sent us another bak kut teh! First time i see ppl cook vege like this. Basically they soak the vege into the bak kut teh soup. How it taste? Not good lar.. tasteless!! RM 25 for all these. A so so bak kut teh..not too good, not too bad!

Malacca's Wan Tan Mee

Wan tan mee in Malacca is very different than the wan tan mee in KL. How different? Well, KL's wan tan mee are black in color, as for the wan tan, you can taste the flour more than the meat where else the wan tan mee in Malacca are not black, sometimes it's red. hehe.. add more chili it becomes red lor.. :p

There are a few stalls that sells really nice wan tan mee at Melaka Raya, Bukit Cina and etc. Heard from my brother (he loves wan tan mee, when he's in malacca, he will eat wan tan mee at different stalls for his breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. geng!!!) the one at melaka raya and bukit cina are actually brothers. They split and open two different shops after some incident.

I prefer the stall at Melaka Raya, but when i was back last weekend, the shop was close for both Saturday and Sunday. ~sigh, so i went to the other brother's shop lor, which is at Bukit Cina.

Hong Sheng Wan Tan Mee,
opposite Bukit Cina

still can get cheap food in Malacca,
RM 2.50 for small wan tan mee.

We waited for half an hour only our food arrived. They took their own sweet time to cook. hehe.. But a lot of ppl lar. full house!!

see, told you it's different than kl's wan tan mee.
and trust me, after you tried this,
you won't want to eat kl's wan tan mee anymore.
hehe..

we ordered a bowl of wan tan,
there are about 15 wan tan inside.
super delicious!!

We ordered 2 small bowls of wan tan mee, RM 2.50 each and a bowl of wan tan, RM 2.50. Rm 7 can have such nice meal, don't think we can find it else where. YUMMY!! if you go Malacca, MUST try the wan tan mee. Trust me, you will thank me for introducing Malacca's wan tan mee to you. hehe..

Bangkok Food ~ Tom Yam Instant Noodle

I bet you've heard from those that have been to Bangkok, that the instant noodle in Bangkok are very nice and normally they will buy a lot a lot back to Malaysia. Oh yes, they are very right. During my last visit to Bangkok, i bought a few cups of different brands' instant cup noodle and it was sooooooooo tasty. I brought back a few packets, different flavor (tom yam is still the best) and share it with my friends and family, all of them love it too. This time, for sure i will buy more lar. hehe...

i bought 3 packets, each packet got 10 packs.
forgot how much, if i'm not mistaken, it's
about RM 0.5 per pack, almost same price
as our maggie mee.

I tried a few brands and this is the BEST!!! I don't even know how to pronounce the name, but i can recognize the brand lar. hehe.. tried a few different flavor but the tom yam is the best! Yummy, after eating this, you won't buy any tom yam or curry flavor maggie mee anymore. :p

Bangkok Food ~ Mango, Pineapple and Jack Fruit Chips

I believed you tried mango, pineapple and jack fruits before right? But have you tried the chips made by these fruits? When we were looking for tidbits for our colleagues at Bangkok, we decided to get them something special. Something which we seldom or may not have the chance to eat in Malaysia.

mango, pineapple and jack fruit chips.
5 for 200 Bath (RM 20)
quite expensive as there's very little chips
inside each packet

FL asked me to take 3 packets of mango chips (he thought mango will be nice) and i took one pineapple and one jack fruit chips. Although a lot of ppl said durian chips are nice but i tried before and i don't feel it's nice. therefore I did not take the durian chips.

Guess which is the worst? Mango chips!! and we bought 3 packets for them some more. hehe... I took the pineapple and mango to office and FL took the jack fruit and mango. Pineapple taste a lot like pineapple, hehe, chips that got sour, sweet and salty taste, can imagine or not? My colleague said it was nice though, i felt it's a bit weird. :p

As for mango, maybe it's not that fresh so it doesn't taste very nice. FL told me his colleagues finished everything very fast, he didn't even have the chance to try the mango chips. (hmm, mango that nice meh?) He tried the jack fruit chip and said it was nice!! If you never try these chips before, can try lar, but i think you will have the same feeling, banana chips is the best! haha!!

Bangkok Food ~ Fish and Pork Hot Dog

On our last day at Bangkok, we went to Pratunam, always heard about this place but never been there before. Unfortunately we went in the afternoon, nothing much there, saw a few shopping centers but didn't go in. Then something caught my attention, what else? FOOD lar!! hahahaha..

In front of a shopping center named 'Big C', there's a small food street (small stalls selling food). We walked in and saw these..

no idea what's this, but expensive wor..
4 for 75 Bath (RM 7.50)
i didn't buy it..feel not worth it! :p
but it does looks nice and cute right?

i wonder what egg is that..so small one...
looks very cute!!

all fish.. i bought the first one on the right..
i called it fish hot dog, hehe, cos looks
like hot dog mar right? 10 Bath each (RM 1)
cheap cheap...

and the pork hot dog..
10 Bath each (RM 1)

1 fish hot dog and 1 pork hot dog, take away
they eat with raw cabbage one wor..
raw cabbage nice meh? :p

We only bought 1 fish hot dog and 1 pork hot dog. Why bought so little? Well, cos got one time we bought some fish balls, looks nice but taste so geli!! So we dare not buy a lot, scared not nice lar.. but these are really yummy! hmm, should have buy more!! I preferred the fish hot dog but FL preferred the pork hot dog. I felt pork one nothing special, taste a bit like 'lobak' but the fish one is really nice lar!!! cheap yet delicious!!

Bangkok Food ~ The MBK Food Court (6th floor)

There are two food courts in the MBK shopping mall. One is on the 5th floor, the high class one (price double up), and another one is at the 6th floor (where we had our dinner).

Lemon Ice Blended, 35 Bath (RM 3.50)

You can see this lemon ice blended everywhere, at night market, weekend market or shopping malls. I think it's quite a popular drink there. Oh yes, it is very nice too. I wonder why there's no such ice blended here in malaysia (got or not ar?).

I let FL to make the decision what to eat , why? cos i'm too tired, hehe, i rather just sit down there and wait for surprises. :p He came back holding a few plates, big big plates of dishes, hmmm.. malay food?

tom yam kung, not bad..but not as nice
as the one we tried at the
Suan Lum's food court.

Kangkung, taste normal..

Egg, normal too..

Meat with sotong and prawns
this one not so nice, tasteless

FL ordered this set that consists all of the above and 2 plates of rice. How much? 200 Bath++ (RM 20+) Not very expensive also as all of these are very big plates, i think enough for 4 ppl as well. How come FL ordered so many? Well, he thought all these are small small plates, like what we normally had at the malay stalls ma, who knows came out so big portion. While eating, ppl kept staring at us lar.. ~sigh..pai seh pai seh...

Bangkok Food ~ Beef Balls Meehun

There's a stall selling delicious beef balls meehun a few blocks away from our hotel. We accidentally bumped into this stall during our last trip to Bangkok. Their beef balls are so delicious that after 1 yr plus, we both can still remember clearly.

It only opened at night, 7pm onwards. We had our dinner at the MBK's food court at about 5pm++. At 10pm+, we went there to have our supper. haha.. last night in Bangkok wor, if don't eat, don't know when got chance to eat lar!!!

We were lucky, the shop still exists!
It's in front of a bank, sorry,
forgot what bank is that! :p
It's finger time!! FL went point point point to order..

again, u'll see this at every table.
sugar, chili sauce, chili powder and the wet chili,
something like sambal.

the meehun beef ball meehun, 30 Bath (RM 3)

I added a teaspoon of the wet chili.
YUMMY!!!

This meehun soup is much much much more better than the Pork/Beef/Fish Balls Soup we ate in front of the Westin Hotel. Although the pork/beef/fish balls are nice, but the soup taste like those maggi meehun. This beef balls meehun is totally different. The soup is nice, the beef balls are superb!! I don't know how to describe, it just taste sooo nice. Can you believe, a road side stall like tat can have such amazing food!! Oo.. I missed Bangkok food!!!

Bangkok Food ~ Sour Sweet,

If you like to eat candy, especially those sour candy, don't missed the opportunity to get these sweets if you travel to Bangkok. I bought it at the Tops supermarket.

Zappo, grape flavour, 10 Bath (RM 1)
7 sweets in 1 stick

It looks just like sugus, but taste a lot nicer!!

Sugus, taste sweet only, but this zappo..syok nya! sweet and sour and it smells really nice too, especially the grape flavour! i don't think we can get this sweet in malaysia, never see it here before. Since it's so nice, did i buy a lot before I came back? you say leh?? wuahahahahha...

tah-dah!! bought these before i left bangkok. hehe...

Zappo only got 4 flavors, grape is the best. Don't buy the sweets you see on your right (in japanese words), not very nice, expensive (2o0+ Bath per stick) yet not nice!

Bangkok Food ~ Taro Pie from McDonald

If you happened to go to Bangkok, and if you happened to pass by the McDonald, you must go into the McDonald and get yourself a Taro Pie. What is Taro? Taro means Yam. Yam pie. I tried the taro pie because our mcD here doesn't sell yam pie and seriously I didn't expect it is THAT nice!

The best thing about their pies are it is very hot and it is not as sweet as what we have here. The taste of the yam is very strong, and smells very nice too! Besides the taro pie, they have banana pie and one other pie (sorry, forgot, i paid my full attention to the taro pie. hehe..)

Taro Pie from McD, 190 Bath (RM 1.90)
remember, must try must try!!

Bangkok Food ~ Spicy Mango

Another food that you should not missed when you visit Bangkok, the spicy mango. Spicy mango? What's that? I bet you've tried raw mango with chili padi and dark soy sauce right? It's similar to Bangkok's spicy mango. hehe. Their spicy mango is the raw mango cut into slices, then they poured in chili powder and sugar. You can get it easily from the road side stalls that sells fruits or any market.

chili mango and the sweet and sour mango
20 Bath each (RM 2)

I bought these from the Chatuchak Weekend Market. There are so many stalls selling these there. The chili mango (right) is actually chili powder with mango. As for the sweet and sour mango, that's raw mango too, and they will give you a packet of asam. This asam taste just like our asam here, just that they also added chili in it. So the taste will be sour, sweet and spicy. Nice!!

Bangkok Food ~ Mango Sticky Rice

Everyone knows besides tom yam kung, mango sticky rice is also one of the must eat food in Bangkok. During my last trip to Bangkok, i missed this! Ya, i know, how can i missed it? Well, i can't find it. Not everywhere got sell one lar...

Finally we found it at the MBK shopping mall's food court. There's two food courts in MBK, one is the high class one (at 5th floor) and the other one is the normal food court (6th floor). Don't go to the wrong food court ya. We accidentally went to the wrong food court during our last trip, and guess how much we spent for our dinner there? 500 Bath (RM50) for a plate of rice and a bowl of soup (if i'm not mistaken). The price is double if compared to the normal food court! Ya they allowed us to swipe card some more!!

Mango Sticky Rice, 80 Bath (RM 8)

I think only those restaurants or shopping mall's food court got sell la..The mango were amazing! Smells so nice and taste sooooooo good! juicy and sweet, you just can't stop eating the mango! The white color thing you see on the sticky rice (glutinous rice) are coconut milk (santan). It taste a bit sweet, and salty. Smells very nice too. It match perfectly if you eat the sticky rice with mango. I always thought it will taste weird, but surprisingly it can mix very well! I think it'll taste nicer if we had this at some of the local restaurants! Anybody tried this before? Which restaurant is nice?

Bangkok Food ~ The Mango Salad

We have two missions to complete at the Chatuchak weekend market. First, to SHOP!!! Shop till we PK! hahahahaha and secondly, we have to look for the delicious mango salad. During my last trip to Bangkok, we bumped into this lady, which carries 2 baskets selling some food. Out of curiosity, we ordered one to try. The lady doesn't understand English, therefore we asked the shop owners at the Chatuchak weekend market to help us translate. I can't forget the taste of this mango salad ever since i tasted it last year. So hopefully we were lucky enough to bump into this lady again this time.

Guess what, i think we really have fate with this lady. While we were shopping shopping shopping, suddenly i saw a lady sitting in the middle of the street with two baskets besides her. Yes, that's her! That's the lady!!! hehe.. YES YES YES!!! Again, we point point point our fingers to the stack of mango, and i think she understand lar. hehe.. While waiting for her to prepare, i took pictures of her baskets.

the right basket, full of mango slices,
onions, red color fruits which i'm not sure
what is it, hehe, onions, peanut, garlic...

the left basket got chili padi, mango slices as well,
onion, small little crabs, and a bottle of dono wat..

We tried to ask them what do they call this thing. But they don't seems to understand what we are trying to ask. So let just refer this as mango salad. hehe.. I believe besides mango salad, this lady is also selling something else, too bad she doesn't understand english, else i think we probably can try some other stuff too!

She showed us a chili padi, asked us want or not, and we said yes, then she add in mango slices, onions, garlic, peanuts and a few teaspoons from the bottle, which i don't now what's that. Mixed around and that's it. She doesn't gave us the little crab, i guess that is for some other dish..

Mango Salad, 25 Bath (RM 2.50)

This is so so so so delicious. Sweet, spicy, sour.. it just taste so good! This is the food i missed the most in Bangkok. hehe.. If you go to Chatuchak weekend market, pls pls pls, do not miss the opportunity to try this mango salad else.. you will regret. HAAAHAHA.. trust me lar, it's really nice. You can't really try this in any where else.

Bangkok Food ~ Suan Lum Night Bazaar's Food Court

We both felt hungry after a few hours walk at the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Apparently the Pork/Fish/Beef Balls meehun soup was not enough for big eaters like us. haha.. really very small portion, no wonder all gals in bangkok got nice figures. :p (that includes the man as well!!)

You can easily find the food court, it is located just beside the MRTA Lumphini . Actually we didn't have a nice impression here, why? Our last trip to Bangkok, we ate here too. We had this rice that taste super yucky and the sotong/fish balls that taste weird. I barely touched the food. We tried to find other place to eat but seems like this is the only place which costs less. Other places were full of foreigners and the price of the food are all very expensive. So we decided to have our supper at this food court again. I still remembered which stall we ate so I told FL not to order from that stall!

both white color one?
it's two different drinks lar..
one is the lemon ice blended, and the other one,
coconut ice blended. The lemon ice blended taste
great!! Can't stop drinking it! hehe..
30 Bath each (RM 3 each)

In Bangkok for sure need to try their tom yam kung lar right? So we ordered a tom yam kung from one of the stalls there.

Tom yam Kung, 40 bath (RM 4)

The tom yam kung taste sooooooooooooooooooo NICE! It's spicy, it's sour, it's.. well, i really don't know how to describe. They have the abalone mushroom and prawns in the tom yam kung. Other ingredients are the same like serai, the leaves and etc. but i'm sure there's something else, something which makes it taste SOOOOOOOO delicious! I think my face got this word 'delicious' when i ate this tom yam kung cos the foreigner sitting beside us kept looking at me when we're eating and when we were half way eating, he went to the stall to order the tom yam kung as well. haha!!

While we were waiting for the tom yam kung, FL saw a lot of ppl ordered the rice, they scoop the rice in a bowl, then add in chili and some other stuff, then kacau kacau kacau, looks delicious.. so FL ordered that too!

i called this, the chili rice!!
35 bath, (RM 3.50)

I didn't try the fish, as it got lot's of bones. hehe.. The rice, taste very nice, it's not too spicy, really don't know what else they mix with the rice, as we only see it mixed around with the chili powder only.

Fried oyster with egg (O-Jien), 40 bath (RM 4)

We made a mistake ordering this, the tasteless o-jien! There's a lot of oysters but all tasteless, egg tasteless, bean sprout tasteless, oyster tasteless. I guess this guy really have some kind of skill only can cook such dish out, all tasteless one!!! Really regret ordering this!!

So if you happened to go to the Suan Lum night bazaar, don't forget to visit their small little food court and tried their tom yam kung and the chili rice. Both of them are from the same stall and there's only one stall selling this chili rice!! and remember, don't try the mixed rice stalls. :p

Bangkok Food ~ Pork/Beef/Fish Balls Soup

After checking in to our hotel, The Manhattan Hotel, we decided to go find food before we go to the Suam Luam night market. Must eat only got energy to walk mar, right? It was about 7pm (bangkok time, malaysia time 8pm) . We decided to have our dinner at a hawker stall nearby (we tried this stall before on our last trip, they have this amazing beef balls!). This stall is about 7 minutes walk from our hotel, it is located opposite The Westin Hotel.

not sure what is the name of the stall, but there's
chinese words telling us that they are selling
pork/beef/fish balls.
Not only locals there, a lot of foreigners there too.

After a few minutes of chicken and duck talk (they don't understand english and we don't understand their language. So we speak english, they speak their language. hehe.. how to order? use finger to point point point lor.. :p), we placed our order. We ordered meehun soup with all these beef/pork/fish balls. Hope they understand lar..

on each table, you will see this.
a glass of chili powder, a glass of chili sauce,
a glass of white sugar and a bottle of..
i dono wat's that, looks like oil to me. hehe...

Finally! our dinner is served!
wow, a lot of balls..9 of them!!
it looks just like our fish ball meehun soup right?

before eating it, let me add a teaspoon
of chili powder and a teaspoon of chili sauce.
I'll skip the white sugar and oil. hehe..
white sugar in meehun soup? hmm, not sure how it taste,
but i see locals all add sugar one.

The meehun soup taste just like the maggie meehun, nothing special. But the pork balls and fish balls, damn nice! Too bad they never gave us any beef balls... It is really really nice! How much per bowl? 30 bath per bowl which is equivalent to RM 3 per bowl. Damn cheap right? 9 pork and fish balls for RM 3, where can you find that in malaysia?

The AirAsia nasi lemak!

I was feeling very hungry while I was on the plane to Bangkok. When the stewardess asked us what we want to eat or drink, we ordered a nasi lemak and a cup of nescafe.

nasi lemak, RM8 and nescafe, RM4

trust me, it looks a lot nicer when it's on the menu!
despite it's look, hehe, it does smells nice and
taste quite nice too! There are sambal, kacang,
ikan bilis, half egg, and a little bit of rendang chicken.

Nasi Lemak is the most expensive food on the menu, followed by sandwiches, RM 7, RM 6 and etc. There are also maggi mee too, if i'm not mistaken, RM 5 per cup. As for drinks, hot drinks are cheaper, RM 4 where else cold drinks are slightly more expensive, RM 5. There are also some snacks too.

If you are not feeling too hungry, I don't advice you to eat or drink on the plane as it's quite costly. But if you were like me, feeling super hungry, you can try the nasi lemak, it's really taste quite nice!

Chocolate Banana Cake & Mango Delight from Secret Recipe

I first ate the Chocolate Banana cake from Secret Recipe when we celebrated one of my ex colleague's birthday. My first impression? wah, wat cake is that, black black one.. Then my ex colleague told me this Chocolate Banana cake from Secret Recipe is very famous and it's very delicious too.

Oo, serious? Let me try... oooooo... i still dun like it. wuahahahahhahaa...but all of them said it was very very nice... Just now, I went to Secret Recipe to buy Tiramisu for FL but there's no Tiramisu!! Therefore I decided to buy the chocolate banana to let him try, else he will be eating Tiramisu forever!! hehe..

Chocolate Banana, RM 6.30

After so long, I found myself still doesn't like this cake. hehe. but FL said it's very nice, especially when eat the cake together with the banana. Well, Chocolate Banana, of cos you have to eat together with the banana la.. :p

Mango Delight, RM 6.30

This cake looks very tempting, maybe it's because of it's sharp color? How it taste? It's actually quite nice, got mango taste in the cream and cake. But i felt the cream is too thick..
