How to marinate chicken?

I only know ONE way to marinate chicken. How? Marinate with soy sauce, little bit of sugar, little bit of pepper and little bit of oyster sauce. It taste quite nice too if u gonna stir fry the chicken. I'm having a little gathering with a couple of friends tomorrow, having steamboat and bbq. I'm thinking of different ways to marinate chicken for bbq but I really don't know how. I don't think the above mentioned ways are suitable for bbq lar...

Should I marinate with curry powder? Soy Sauce + sugar + pepper + currry powder? How ar? Anybody can give me some clue?

What's in your drawer?

A colleague of mine asked me is there anything for him to munch as he's feeling very bored. I open my drawer beside and realized i really got a lot of things to eat wor.. What i have? Well, I have sweets, sour plum, sweet and sour stuff, biscuits, crackers, keropok, mushroom soup, milo cereal, chewing gum, vitamin c.... wuahahahahahhaa...so scary lar... so many things to eat inside my small little drawer!!

What about you? What's in your drawer?

Seafood Noodle @ Ss2, Seapark

Just now lunch me and my colleagues went to the ss2 seapark to have the seafood noodle. The very last time I had seafood noodle was last year, april, i went to the main branch at Segambut, that time was RM13 per bowl.

Few yrs back I tried once at this seapark seafood noodle but I felt that the Segambut one are nicer. After all these yrs, I still feel the Segambut one are nicer. I ordered Tomyam seafood meehun, the tomyam is not spicy at all, luckily the seafood are very fresh. The seafood noodle is getting more and more expensive, RM15 per bowl now and some more need to pay a 5% gov tax. wow!!

Very thirsty now... thirsty thirsty...

Remember I posted about the Marche's Crazy Tuesday ~ All you can eat? According to my friend, it's not like what i said earlier lar, can order as much as we can. His friend went to try this buffet and found out that, all you can eat does not means you can go out order EVERYTHING out there.

For this buffet, Marche will prepare a corner with tables and with food on it, so if u interested in the buffet, you can eat all you can from THAT corner only lar.. You cannot go out there and order the food you like...

OO, like that ar.. yalar, else everyone will go eat lar, if can order like normal for the price of RM38!!!

Jambu soak in mineral water?

There's a stall selling jambu near my office. Yes only jambu. Everyday i can see a lot of ppl buy from that stall. Really that nice? Jambu only mar, what's so special?

I decided to ask a colleague of mine that tried before. According to him, it's nice. How nice? Jambu is sweet and the sour powder also very nice. Oh ya, and the stall owner told my colleague that his jambu not soaking in normal water, it's soaking in mineral water plus dono what what what.

How much, 2 pieces for RM1. Quite expensive wor, the stall two pieces is equivalent to 1 piece at those normal fruit stall. Oklar, since everybody also say nice, i must try also lar..

So i bought two pieces to try. Hmm..jambu taste like jambu. hehe.. but fresh lar and the sour powder (酸梅粉) is really nice. Not too sweet, not too sour, taste just nice... But still i feel it's a bit expensive lar..

p/s: really soak in mineral water meh? or normal water? hehe..

Nyonya Colors @ One Utama

Have you been to the Nyonya Colors, it's at One Utama's old wing, near Vinci, always full of ppl. Their kuih really looks nice, but it's quite expensive, one small pieces costs RM 0.80. We did not try the kuih..We ordered..

a nescafe, RM 2.70 and a Kopi O ice, RM 2.50
nescafe taste quite ok,
as for the kopi o ice,
see the color also you know not nice lar. hehe..

Nasi Lemak Pandan Chicken, RM 8.90
The rice quite nice, it's green in color,
but too bad everything is cold.
sambal quite nice too, chicken also ok.

Thai Mee siam, RM 2.50
The most expensive mee siam i've ever had.

see, so small packet only,
but quite nice too lar,
tom yam taste quite strong.

If they can served hot food, I bet their food will even taste nicer.. Hmm, but who cares, now they served cold food also so many ppl already..

Big Brother's Cafe @ Bandar Sri Damansara

Accidentally found this small little shop when we were looking for a place to have our lunch at 3pm++.. Decided to try it out. The shop is quite small and there's only one customer there. Everything is self service.

There's nothing much left, only got asam laksa, meehun siam, nasi lemak and tong shui. So we ordered..

Meehun Siam with Egg, RM 2++

Nasi Lemak, RM 5

Bubur Cha cha, RM 2.50

Longan Tong Shui, RM 2.20

Food was not nice at all, it's cold, part of it is tasteless, part of it is salty. According to FL, the curry chicken was very bad.. But the tong shui are quite nice, Hot and nice... It costs us RM 13+ for all these.. I think if i were to visit the shop next time (hopefully it's still there lar.. :p), I'll just try the tong shui.. hehe...

Honey cure cough?

Heard from quite a number of friends that honey can cure cough. The trick is, u need to get pure honey. How to know whether it's pure or not pure? Erm? by price? No not necessary. A friend told me she took a tablespoon of honey when she was in Bangkok and her cough cured. Recently she started to cough again but she tried so many different kinds of expensive honey but the cough doesn't go away.

hmm.. so where can we get the so call pure honey?

Can bread be made without the skin?

While I was eating my gardenia bread as breakfast yesterday morning, I suddenly have this thought. How come there's skin around the bread? Can't they make bread without the skin?

I'm not sure about you, but most of the ppl that i know, including me, dislike the bread skin. FL and I always argue about who should eat the first and last piece of the bread skin. hehe..oh ya, and also the skin that surrounding the bread. It's dry, it's hard, not nice la.. How come they just can't make the bread without the skin?

What about you? Do you like the bread skin?

Do you like buffet?

Do you like buffet? I love buffet, well, maybe is becos it's all you can eat. We human all greedy one mar. hehe.. You like that dish, you can keep refill and refill and refill until you eat until want to vomit. hehe.. Although I love buffet, I seldom go, why? I also don't know why, when eat at normal restaurant, i can eat a lot, but when it comes to buffet, normally i have small appetite. always rugi lar..

You have any nice buffet to introduce? I've been to quite a few buffet around town but the one that i felt can revisit again are Jogoya, Shangri-La and Sunway Resort Hotel. Oo, I heard from my colleagues that Hilton @ PJ has the best Japanese buffet. Anybody tried before?

When to eat fruits?

When do you eat fruits? Before or after your meal? I'm not sure about others but for Chinese, we normally eat fruits after our meal.

It is best to eat fruits before meals because if we eat after meal, we won't be able to get vitamins of the fruit. In other words, we're eating that fruit just for the sake of eating. But it's really difficult to change a habit.

I'm actually trying to change this habit, try to eat fruits before my meal but a lot of times, when i started my meal, then only i remember that i need to eat fruits first. hahahahahahaa..

what about you? Do you eat fruits before or after your meal?

The worst Bak Kut Teh I've ever had!!

FL heard his friends said that there's a famous Ikan Bakar at kepong main street (Jusco/Carrefour). Last week, on a weekday, we went to search for it. It was quite late, about 8pm+, we turned here and there, can't find the place. It was almost 9pm and we still not able to find the place. We were so hungry and we finally gave up searching for it.

We were at a street that full of Bak Kut Teh shops (a lorong on your left hand side before go up to the fly over). What else to eat? Bak Kut Teh lar.. There are at least 4-5 Bak Kut Teh along the street. We choose the one that have the most ppl.

we ordered a wet bak kut teh for 1 person.

and a dry bak kut teh for one person.

and the 'yao zha guai'

The wet bak kut teh were so sweet. A lot of MSG!!! as for the dry bak kut teh, it's as wet as the wet bak kut teh and guess what, it's tasteless. OMG!!! Trust me, I never had such yucky bak kut teh before. You simply find one stall also nicer than this shop lar. Forgot what's the shop name lar, if i'm not mistaken, that's the first shop on that lorong. ~sigh..i wonder how this shop can survive lar.. with such bak kut teh... Oh ya, it's not cheap also lar. RM 21.70 for all these... We so hungry also can feel not nice, i wonder how it taste when we're not hungry. aih... bad bad...bad...

Nan Fei Leaves (南非叶) prevents cancer, cough, high blood pressure, high cholestrol...

My aunt asked me to try this Nan Fei Leaves (南非叶), she said her friends tried and found that it can actually cure cough. Another cough remedy? then I must try lar, no harm trying mar, since i cough for so long already.

She showed me a newspaper article about this Nan Fei Leaves (南非叶). After I read the newspaper article (if you know chinese, click here to read about the article.), this article does not mention anything about curing cough, but apparently this Nan Fei Leaves has antioxidant that can prevent cancer and also very good for ppl who has high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Wow...

Anyway, my aunt asked me to try as she said it really cured her friend's cough. Ok ok, let's try then. How does Nan Fei Leaves looks like?

Nan Fei Leaf

wash it, there's about 15 leaves here.

boil a pot of water, when the water boils,
put in the Nan Fei Leaves and turn off
the fire. Cover it for a while.

it taste a bit bitter. drink as much as u want.

According to the newspaper, this leaf is best to eat raw as the heat might lower down the antioxidant. It is best to eat with green apple, blend green apple with this leaf and drink the juice (prevent cancer). I think this is very good especially for old people. A lot of ppl already start planting this at home. If you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, you might want to try this out. Even you don't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, you can also try it out as it prevent cancer.

As for the cough, I'm not sure it works or not, as i cough on and off one. hehe, let me try to drink a few more times first then only i let you know. Where to get the plant? Well, i also dono, hehe, maybe you can start by asking your neighbors around, it's a very common plant, maybe your neighbors has it, who knows right?

Lou Sang!!

We decided to 'lou sang' in office before we off for our cny holidays. We have a Malay colleague and a colleague that is a vegetarian. Therefore, we can't go to those chinese restaurant to 'lou'. Finally we able to get it at Giant, it's halal and it's meat free (dun add in fish lor.)!!!

合家欢 from giant, RM 16.88 (very hou yi tao right? hehe)
actually what this thing called ar?
'lou sang' (捞生) is the action mar..
the food itself call wat? 'yu sang' (鱼生)?

all nicely packed in a box, this one
is for 10-13 ppl

not bad hor, clean and nice.

all the ingredients

we poured in all the ingredients in the box
(wash the box first lar.. )
and we're ready to lou ar....
one thing not so nice when 'lou' in office is we not able to 'lou'
very high, how come? well, scared later
kena the floor lar, later kena scold by the
cleaning lady.. :p

ready to makan..

At first i thought it won't taste nice but actually it taste quite good also.. except it's a bit too sweet (don't pour in all the sauce).. it's quite fresh and it's cheap. If you eat outside you definitely can't get it with this price. So if you are looking for halal and vegetarian 'lou sang', you probably can try this!!

Lays (potato chips) from Bangkok

Besides hunting for sweets in Bangkok, I also look for potato chips. hehe, I dare not simply buy those unknown brand after i tasted the chips from india. hehe, i scared i cannot accept the taste mar. So i looked for those brand that Malaysia got sell, but different flavor. So finally i found Lays with different packaging, different flavor, a flavor that we can't find it in Malaysia.

Lays ~ Barbecue, 4900 Baht (RM 4.9)

chips nicely arranged, but i found it very strange,
once you open, you can't close back with the cover.
strange lar, force ppl to eat all at one time?

so how it taste? well, i think i still prefer
those flavor that we can find in Malaysia. hehe..
I wonder why chips from other countries taste
a bit weird.. hmm... Have you tried any chip from other
country that is nice ar?
