Nice fish head noodle at Restoran D.U.Cafe, Kota Damansara

I used to come to this Restoran D.U.Cafe at Kota Damansara for the Char kway teow at night. Last week, I went back for the char kway teow but unfortunately, it's not as nice as previous anymore. When I was about to leave, I saw a table of 4, all ordered fish head noodle. Wow, it must be nice since the whole family ordered the same thing!! I told myself I must try this fish head noodle some day.

Few days ago, I went back to this restoran to try the fish head noodle!! Oh ya, I love fish head noodle, was trying to find a replacement after the fish head noodle stall at Uptown moved to dono where few years ago..

Restoran D.U. Cafe at Kota Damansara

see the stall?

Fish head noodle, RM 5.50
quite expensive and very big bowl

you know what's the best thing? this stall got thick bee hoon (粗米粉)!! I've been looking for fish head noodle with thick bee hoon for years!! It looks nice, it smells nice but the soup is a bit too salty for me. Although it's salty, the fish taste really good, fresh and crispy!! No wonder the whole family ordered the same thing!!

If you are a fan of fish head noodle, you probably want to try this. This restoran is just behind the UOB Bank at Kota Damansara..

De Pastry Chef @ Manjalara (Tiramisu + Choc Coffee Cake)

Whenever we passed by a cake house, a bakery shop or any shop that got sell cakes, FL will start craving for the Tiramisu. That is why when we passed by the De Pastry Chef @ Manjalara, he insists to go in to get a piece of Tiramisu.

Tiramisu, RM 9

I still not sure why the Tiramisu is much more expensive than other cakes at the De Pastry Chef. Secret Recipe only selling RM 6+ per piece, here it's RM 9!! How it taste? Well, not bad lar.. (i don't really like Tiramisu) and of cos FL said it's very nice, erm, he said nice to all Tiramisu lar..

I decided to buy this when I saw this cake, it looks really nice and tempting!!

Chocolate Coffee, RM 5.50

This is very nice, to me it's much much more nicer than the Tiramisu. hehe.. I think the reason I like cakes at the De Pastry Chef is because they are not too sweet and after eating it, you won't feel jelak.

If you are a cake lover, you should really try their cake some day. They have A LOT of variety (10 or 20 types), you can have lot's of choices!! So if you happened to go to Manjalara some day, find this shop!! It's somewhere near the UOB bank..

Learn more about clinical solutions

Sandy told me recently her sister found herself a part time job at a clinic near their house. She was excited at first but at the same time she's worried she can't understand all the medical terms when communicating with the doctor. She doesn't want to spend money to get medical reference books but then she hopes she can do her job well. What can she do?

I told Sandy there's no need for her sister to buy the medical reference book, she can learn online for free! Recently Epocrates launched a new web based application, the free online clinical solution which allows people to research about new diseases, the treatments, medical guidelines and etc. There are all kinds of new diseases in the system as well as the known disease such as the Chronic Congestive Heart Failure. By referring to this online clinical solution, Sandy's sister will be able to learn a lot about medical, health care and thus communicate well with the doctor!

** This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.

Choy Kee Restaurant (财记饭店) at Sungkai

After having fun at the Hot Spring, we headed to the Sungkai town for lunch!! Our friends told us to go try the famous 'chu sao' (pig hand or leg?? (猪手)) at this Choy Kee Restaurant (财记饭店). We don't know how to go wor.. No worries, cos according to our friend, Sungkai town only got one main street with few shop lots, sure can find this restaurant one..

About 5-10 minutes time, we found this shop!! Really easy to find wor.. hehe...

Choy Kee Restaurant (财记饭店)

There were not much ppl there. A teenage boy took down our orders. We asked him how big is the 'chu sao', we only got 8 ppl and we dowan a big one, we just wanna try. You know what he said? The 'chu sao' ar, not too big lar, and not too small lor, say big not big, say small not small..

apa la, answer like never answer like that? then we all stared at him, FL then said, then give us medium one lar.. and you know what he said? har, canot lar, it depends on the chef to give u medium or big one, if he give you big one, then you have to take the big one, if he give you medium one, then you need to take the medium one..  Arggg...he knows how to do business or not? talk like this to the customers? Luckily we're all nice ppl, so.. cincai lar..

Then after that, we asked him what else is famous in his shop besides the 'chu sao'? He said, oo, basically is the 'chu sao' only lar.. alamak, i really don't know why the owner of the shop asked this kid to come take orders, maybe he's the boss' son lar. So we decided to cincai order than to ask him to intro.

So we ordered..

Tau Fu, this one not bad...

and of cos the famous 'chu sao',
luckily the chef gave us the medium one..
just nice for 8 of us!!
How it taste? ok lar i guess, i don't really eat also..

and the vege, i think it's called paku vege,
not bad also..

and finally the marmite chicken, ok also lar..

To me i really think these dishes are normal only lar, but one thing is they're cheap!! The whole meal took us RM 70+ including rice, drinks and etc! If you divide by 8 person, one person also no need RM 10 ler.. cheap rite?

McCafe - the mcDonald which sells only coffee but no burgers!

I think our place here still doesn't this, McCafe @ Stanley Market (赤柱). It's actually Mcdonald but instead of selling burger, they sell coffee!! They wanted to make it look like Star bucks / Coffee Bean but when you stepped in, one part is selling coffee (the seats are more comfortable) and the other part is selling burgers. Ppl eating burger can come sit here and ppl drinking coffee can order burger. hehe..

McCafe

Ice Blended Caramel Coffee
(sorry, can't remember the name, :p)

My cafe mocha, looks nice right?
taste quite good too..

Ice tea, nice!!

It's approximately HKD 10++ per cup, so if you converted to RM, it's actually cheaper than those in Star bucks or Coffee bean. The coffee really not bad lar, but in terms of environment, still cannot compete with star bucks / coffe bean.

Foh San - Corn Lotus Paste with Golden Delights (富山月饼-玉米金沙)

Went to Jusco kepong the other day and saw this new flavor mooncake from Foh San. Decided to give it a try.

Foh San - Corn Lotus Paste with Golden Delights
(富山月饼-玉米金沙),
RM 11.50 (Jusco Card holder got 10% discount)

Looks quite nice right? Foh San's mooncake really not bad lar, i tried a few before and all taste great! Not too sweet and fresh!

too bad got egg yolk (I don't like mooncake with egg yolk, hehe..) but still I like the taste. It has a little bit of corn taste and it mix well with the lotus paste. Yummy!!

Hong Kong Dim Sum @ Ka Ho Restaurant (香港点心 - 嘉豪酒家)

Dim sum is a must try thing in Hong Kong. Always watched HK movies and saw them eating dim sum, finally I got a chance to try it. See whether ours here (Ipoh Dim Sum) nicer or there nicer..

After we bought the ticket to The Peak, FL's friend brought us to this restaurant, he said the dim sum quite nice. His office is nearby and he always come to this restaurant with his colleagues to eat dim sum. It's about 3pm when we reach this restaurant, hopefully still got lar...

I also not sure where's this place, we just followed him walk here walked there, cross the street, and cross the street and walk up the hill and turned left, turned right and here we are. hehe.. basically i don't know where am i. :p

Ka Ho Restaurant (嘉豪酒家)
somewhere near Central (中环)

At one corner of this restaurant, there are few mahjong tables. We saw ppl playing mahjong. It might be nothing to HK ppl but to us, this is something new. hehe.. They can makan and at the same time play mahjong, not bad hor..

The menu

really don't know how to order as the name sounds different. We asked our friend to order but he said normally his colleague did the ordering, so he also not sure what's the name of these dim sum. We decided to try our luck, and ordered these...

'Ha Gao' (虾饺)

I don't really like to eat 'ha gao' but this one is really yummy! 2 big big prawns with minced meat inside and the skin is sooooooo thin. It's thin but still able to wrap nicely. Super nice!!

'Siu Mai' (烧卖)
OMG, this is sooooo delicious too!!
our 'siu mai' cannot fight their siu mai lar..

char siu bao (叉烧包)
this is nice too..
i think this is hand made, not machine made..

Apparently these guys only ordered 3 dim sum correctly. the rest is dono what.. ~sigh.. where am I when they order? busy taking photos lor.. :p

I think this is some kind of chee cheong fun lar..
with sauce..

pour the sauce on the chee cheong fun..
not bad lar, but i'm not really used to the taste.

this should be the 'fu zhuk'
don't really like the taste..

suddenly saw these two plates of chili and chili oil,
don't know for which dim sum one.. hehe..

they said they ordered fish ball but
somehow they served this to us..
~sigh.. where's my fish ball?
apa ini?

this is suppose to be my loh mai gai BUT..

how come only got 'gai' (chicken)
but no 'lo mai'??
aiseh...

Guys really cannot harap lar.. asked them order a few dim sum also become like this. hehe.. I think i can do better lar.. No matter what, I still enjoy the dim sum here especially the siu mai, har gao and char siu bao, it's really nice. We wanted to order more but they already wanna close shop, so these are the things that we managed to order only..

The total of the bill is HKD 101 and it's not as expensive as I think it is. Approx HKD 33 per person only... (RM 10++ per person), cheap right?
