Korean BBQ Chicken Restaurant at Desa Park City

On Wenesday night, we decided to do some last minute CNY shopping (buy some drinks and snacks) at Jusco Desa Park City, just in case got visitors lar. hehe.. It was already 9pm+ when we stepped out of our house, Jusco opened till 11pm so we decided to have our dinner there as well, to save time.

On New Year's eve, we tried La Casa, this time, we're going to have something different, Korean BBQ Chicken. Korea is famous of BBQ Chicken meh? No idea, and what so special about this bbq chicken? They used freshest chicken and only uses 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil .. more healthy..

There were not much people, only 2 tables were occupied. We were greeted by the polite staff (which i suspect she's the boss, hehe..guess lar..) which speaks fluent BM, English and Mandarin! Geng!!
FL's Ice Latte, RM 6.50
not bad, the taste...

My hot chocoloate, RM 5.90
taste like milo + vanila

Cream of Mushroom, RM 3
hmm, this is nice...

Hot hot Drum, RM 13.70

I must warn you, if you can't take spicy food, DO NOT order this because it is VERY SPICY! No kidding. See the drumstick, it's red in color! KFC hot & spicy, cannot compete at all lar.. just a few dollars difference, I can get this (KFC value meal also need RM 10+ right?) I told myself, no more KFC!! The drumstick here is bigger, it's hot, it's spicy, it's tasty, and it's more healthy (use olive oil mar. hehe...)

Charbroiled Sandwich, RM 12.50

This is really very nice!! Very big portion..I don't know how to describe but it really taste great! The bread is soft, the chicken is soft and juicy, the salad is fresh, totally worth it.

a closer look..

The whole meal took us RM 47.85. We had a full and satisfying meal! They even have delivery too! I will be back!

Pork Hotdog (山猪香肠)

When we were on our way up to see the Wulai's hot spring and Wulai's water fall, we passed by a street, a street that is full of temptation, yes thats right, food!!!! There are all kinds of stalls here selling all kinds of food/snacks. One of it is the pork hotdog.

There are a lot of stalls selling pork hotdog, price are all the same. After surveying for a while...

we picked this stall..

Pork Hotdog (nt 35, approx RM 4.10, 3 for nt 100, approx RM 11.75) &
Pork Sate (nt 30, approx RM 3.50)

We ordered the spicy pork hotdog (didn't try the pork sate, the hotdog looks nicer), but of cos, if you feel it's not spicy enough, you can add more chilie powder yourself...

Chilie powder, pepper and etc

It looks great, smells great and taste great too. Yummy.. while we were eating, there's a dog kept following us, we turned left, the dog turned left, we turned right the dog also turned right..luckily the dog never jumped up and rampas our hotdog. hehe..

La Casa at Desa Park City

This is the place where we had our New Year's eve dinner. Well well well, I know exactly what you gonna say, it's already 16 of jan and I'm here talking about New Year's eve? hehe... So sorry for the delay, hehe... late is better than nothing mar, right?

Ok, so back to this dinner. We picked Desa Park City because of a few reasons, it's near to our place, the environment there is nice and probably will have less traffic! But when we were there, we knew we were wrong, there were a lot of people too because Desa Park City will have fireworks that night as well! Wow..fireworks at Desa Park City, never thought a small place like this will have fireworks also ler. hehe..

There are a few restaurant there (western food, thai food, japanese food, steamboat..) and ALL were FULL. Since it's New Year's eve, we decided to go western (chinese seldom celebrate New year's eve one mar. hehe..). We had to wait for about 30 minutes then only we get our seats.

Restaurant La Casa @ Desa Park City

The Menu

There were not really much choices so I ordered a pizza and FL ordered their New Year's Eve set. The set comes with a drink, a soup, salad, main course and dessert.

my Espirit ~ Passion Fruit, RM 7.50
nice...

FL's mango juice (I think...forgot..:p)

Chicken Pepperoni Pizza (Regular), RM 20.90

Salad

Mushroom soup

BBQ Beef Skewer

Dessert (RM 76 for the set)

The total of our bill adds up to RM 114.84 (RM 76 for FL's set, and 10% service charge). How's the food? Erm.. so so lar, nothing special, not worth for the price. hehe.. Will I visit the restaurant again? Hmm, I think not lar, the food quite expensive and yet nothing special, so most probably no more next time...

First breakfast in Taipei, what to eat?

Since yesterday we reached Taipei quite late, today can consider our first day in Taipei!! Very very excited!! The most important thing to do before we start our visiting session is to have breakfast! As I said earlier, there are a lot of small shops selling food opposite the hotel we stayed, at first we planned to simply choose one shop to have our breakfast but then we noticed most of these shops only provides take aways.

At last, we went back to the shop we had our supper yesterday (oh yes, it's 24 hours!). The food they sell is still the same, but the person prepared for the food is different.

mee with pickled vege and meat
榨菜肉丝面, nt 55 (RM 6.50)

I still miss the supper I took yesterday, so I ordered the same for breakfast. As for FL, he decided to try the pork rib mee since I kept saying the mee is very fresh and nice!

deep fried pork ribs (排骨)

and the mee, nt70 (RM 8.20)

chilie, yum yum, this is nice!

Although I tried the same food at the same shop, but I feel the supper one is nicer. Maybe different person cook differently lar.. and woman cooks better than man. hehe.. as for the pork rib mee, taste ok only lar, nothing special...

First meal I had in Taiwan!

It was almost 10pm+ after we found (it took a while before we found our hotel, we took the wrong turn and ended up walking a big round before we reached our hotel) and checked in at our hotel (Taipei CityInn Hotel 新驛旅店). After we placed our luggage in our room, without wasting much time, we headed out again, to find food for supper (dinner at 5pm+ on eva airways). This will be the first meal we had in Taipei!

There are quite a few shops selling food just opposite the hotel we stayed but only one still opened at 10pm+ (this shop opened 24 hours if i'm not mistaken). So we decided to have our first meal here..

This is the shop.
Seriously I don't know
what's the name of this shop.
hehe..Did you see any name?

It is quite small, just enough for a few tables.
I did see a lot of locals eating here, mostly take away.

This was on our table.. Totally no idea what is it.
I think it's some kind of chili gua..
we did try a bit bit, hehe, taste ok lar, spicy...

FL decided to order the Lu Rou Fan 鲁肉饭 (minced meat rice) when he saw it on the menu. This is one of the must eat food in Taiwan wor.. definitely have to try lar..As for me, I opt for something soupy..

Lu Rou Fan 鲁肉饭 (minced meat rice) ,
nt 25 (about RM 2.9)

FL was a bit disappointed when he saw the bowl of rice. Why? becos it's sooooo little!! wuaahahahahhahahaha... We didn't know can order big one, else he definitely take the big one, instead of the small one.

mee with pickled vege and meat
榨菜肉丝面, nt 55 (RM 6.50)

This is really nice, the taste of the soup is light and with the combination of pickled vege and meat, it really brings out the taste. and the mee... i think is hand made one.. very very nice!!

dumplings 水饺, nt 45 (RM 5.3)

You won't believe it, 10 dumplings for only RM 5.3? I don't think we can get this in Malaysia. As for the black colored sauce, I think it's soy sauce + oyster sauce. Unlike our soy sauce, theirs is not that salty.. YUMMY!!

A super delicious and satisfying meal (altogether nt 125, which is equivalent to RM 14.70)! Although it's winter but we don't feel cold at all. Maybe it's because of the hot meal we just had (we sweat some more ler.. ).. After our supper, we went to walk around but most of the shop already closed. So we headed back to our hotel and went to the convenient store next to our hotel to buy some drinks and phone card (wanted to call back home and also called my brother that is currently studying in taiwan). When we asked them about the phone card, they told us we can only get it at 7-11.

So we decided to go to the 7-11 which is also nearby to buy the phone card. They did not give us any plastic bag after we paid and since we're going to 7-11, I can't possibly hold two cold drinks in my hand mar, (some more later 7-11 thought I buy from there and never pay leh) so I asked for a plastic bag and was surprised that we need to pay nt 1 for the plastic bag (if i know i need to pay i will hold the drinks in my hand lar..hehe..). They said their gov discourage ppl use plastic bags. They really did a pretty good job in protecting the environment!

plastic bags nt 1(RM 0.10)
and drinks + sweets, nt 103(RM 12.10)

So that's the end of our Day 1 in Taiwan..

Absolute Thai @ Ikano Power Center

I was at Ikano the other day trying to find a place for dinner. When we passed by Absolute Thai, we saw a lot of people in there(almost full house). Since we love thai food, so why not try this?

When the waiter brought us to our seats, I looked around to check what other ppl ordered. From what I see, most people ordered tom yam soup, pandan chicken, steam fish and kangkung belacan. Hmm, I think these must be good, so we decided to order these as well..

The menu

FL's Thai Ice Coffee, RM 8
Looks really nice but taste really weird.. yuck...

my Thai Ice Tea, RM 8
taste normal... at least much much better
than FL's coffee. hehe..

Rice, RM 2.50 each

Tom Yam Seafood (small), RM 15
This is so tasty!! so far this is the best tom yam soup
I've ever had in Malaysia..Yummy!!

Pandan Chicken (4 pieces), RM 12
this is nice as well... no wonder so many ppl ordering this..

Kangkung With Belacan, RM 9.5
looks nice but taste so so only..

The bill add up to RM 66.15 (including 10% service charge and 5% gov tax). I love the tom yam soup very much and whenever I feel like eating Thai food, I will definitely visit this restaurant again!
