Gunung Rapat Hiong Piah from Yee Hup Bakery (余合昆仑喇叭香饼)

I love eating 'hiong beng' since i was a little girl. I thought the nicest and famous 'hiong beng' are from Penang till I ate the 'hiong beng' from Ipoh. Nothing else can beat the Ipoh Hiong Beng from Yee Hup. I fell for it after i ate it 7 yrs ago. That time they were selling one packet for RM 3.50 only and there's two different type, one is hiong beng, another one they called it 'pong beng'(碰饼). Hiong Beng are bigger where else 'pong beng' are slightly smaller and less sweet. I prefer 'pong beng' but don't know why they stopped baking 'pong beng' few years ago. So now we can only get 'hiong beng' from the shop!

If you've been to ipoh, you definitely heard ppl
mentioned this before, the Gunung Rapat Hiong Piah
(余合昆仑喇叭香饼), RM 6 per packet (10 pcs per packet)

smells very nice! it's baked using charcoal.
(炭烧香饼)

it's fresh, crunchy, no preservatives & colouring.

for those that have not tried before,
it is something that you must buy if
you go Ipoh. trust me, it's really
worth buying it! NICE!!

Subway Sandwiches & Salads @ Dataran Glomac, Kelana Jaya

Me and my colleagues decided to go try this newly opened Subway Sandwiches & Salads near our office. This is not the first time I ate in Subway but this is definitely the first time i tried their sandwich. I remembered i went to this Subway (forgot where..hehe..) before but i ordered fish & chips and not sandwich. So basically, this is still my first visit lar, if dun take that fish & chips into consideration.

We finally decided what to eat after staring at the menu for about 10 minutes. I ordered the Tuna Sandwich. You probably will asked why eat tuna, haha, i don't know wat to order leh, and tuna is not that expensive lar. :p There are 6 of us and each of us ordered a different sandwich. I too busy eating mine so didn't manage to take pictures on their sandwiches. :p

I was the first to order, when the staff asked me 'you want 6 inches or foot long'? i asked her, which one is the shorter one? wuahahaahhaa, stupid question rite? well, i just want to make sure mar. She didn't answer my question, just kept repeating the question, 6 inches or footlong. Finally she decided to show me the 6 inches one and the footlong one. So the answer to my question would be, 6 inches is the smaller and shorter one. :p There are 5 different types of bread to choose from, i picked the wholemeal.

after choosing the bread, added the tuna
and toasted the bread in the oven,
the staff busy stuffing vege into my sandwich.
i said i wanted ALL vege except the onion!!
there are cucumber, tomato, cabbage,
olive, green chili and...forgot. :p

see that's mine!! ahahahhaha..
for the sauce, i asked for bbq sauce,
mayonnaise & chili sauce!
the guy in front of me actually asked them to add
vinegar and salt! first time i heard ppl
add vinegar to their sandwich!! i wonder how it taste!

here's my tuna sandwich, nicely wrapped!
tuna sandwich, RM 9.80.

i added another RM 3.50 to get the set
which comes with a soft drink & a packet
of chips. If you add another RM1, you can
have free refills for your soft drink.

my 6 inches tuna sandwich.
ya i know it doesn't looks very nice,
well after wrap and unwrap sure become like this lar,
what you aspect? hehe.. strange to have bread with
the green chili rite? weird but it taste quite ok.
The tuna really a lot, she gave me
two scoops (ice cream scoops) of tuna.
I feel like i'm eating the whole tin of tuna..

My lunch took me RM 13.30. The tuna bread, RM 9.80 and the drinks and chips for RM 3.50. No additional tax. The bread is really nice, soft and nice. Tuna a lot, vege are all very fresh. Took me a while to finish that bread, cos it's very long and big. luckily my mouth also not small, else don't know how to eat also lar. hehe.. next time i gonna try others!!

Nasi Goreng Paprik, one of my favourite malay food. I like food with gravy, the spicy gravy with squid and chicken/beef together with the fried rice really makes this taste great! This photo was taken at one of the mamak near my place, RM 6 per plate. If you like spicy food, you definitely will like this!

Ipoh Road Yong Tau Foo at Wangsa Permai Kepong

Always wanted to try this out whenever i passed by the shop when i'm on my way to aman puri, kepong. It seems like they are opening a lot of new branches, there's one newly opened at Kelana Jaya. I think should be nice gua since there's so many branches.

We went there for lunch (hmm, late lunch, around 4pm) on Deepavali. Only a few tables are occupied, the workers there are already preparing for the steamboat at night. For drinks, we ordered a herbal tea, RM 1.20, and a Jelly Lime (wan tao long), RM 1.80. We ordered 8 pieces of Yong Tau Foo and 2 paper wrap chicken. Yong tau foo, RM 0.80 per piece, quite expensive, normally it's RM 0.60 - Rm0.70 per piece. 1 big rice, RM 0.80, and 1 small rice, RM 0.60.

2 fish balls, fish balls quite nice and fresh.

2 'ai gua' and a chili.
don't know why they put these in the sauce.
The sauce made these yong tau foo soft
and less tasty. Besides, don't know what sauce
is that, damn not nice!!

2 'fu zhok'. This one quite nice though..

and lastly the paper wrap chicken
(i removed the paper already..), RM 3.80 per piece.
This is the most tasteless paper wrap chicken
i've ever had. bad bad bad ...

This is the worst Yong Tau Foo I've ever had, it's expensive and it doesn't taste good. I wonder why there are so many branches around. Normally the food taste good only got lot's of branches. This meal costs us RM 18.40. I really didn't aspect it's that bad.

KLUANG Station at One Utama

We were at One Utama yesterday,
after walked walked for an hour or two,
FL suggested, hey, let's have a cup of coffee.
okie dokie, so we decided to try this Kluang Station.
I've tried the Kluang Station at The Curve before
but not this one. The one in The Curve?
Oh, the food & drinks both also yuckie!!
but this one at One-U seems to be always full house
no matter what time,
hopefully it's better lar..

The Menu.
We were there about 5pm++,
at first we were just planning to have a cup
of coffee and some bread, but their food smells
nice, we ended up having our dinner there.

FL's Kopi Cold, RM 2.80 and my Kopi Hot, RM 2.60.
Looked at the mug, it looks like they didn't wash it
properly. RM2++ for such a big cup seems quite
worth it, but i just think they should served
in a smaller cup. hehe, i can't even finished it.

FL's Beef Rendang Rice with Salted Egg, RM 8.80.
This looks very nice in the menu,
but it came out like this.

My Nasi Lemak With Fried Chicken, RM 8.30.
Looks a lot nicer than the Beef rendang right?

Overall I think this Kluang Station at One Utama is better than the one at The Curve. The coffee here taste nicer and so does the food. One thing is the food already cold when they served us, it would be nice if the served when it's hot. FL claimed the beef rendang tasteless, he rated that Beef rendang rice as OK la.. As for my nasi lemak, first, the food is cold, then the rice doesn't really taste like nasi lemak, more like normal white rice. And then the sambal not spicy enough. Although so many complaints, it's still eatable, hehe, which means ok also la.. The total of our bill including tax = RM 24.76. I guess it's consider cheap for a dinner at One Utama.

p/s: I saw someone ordered the chicken wings, wow, looks so black like it's over cooked. hehe..

Charcoal Roasted Ipoh White Coffee

Ms. Q gave me this
Charcoal Roasted Ipoh White Coffee
this morning. I'm not really into white coffee,
except the one from Ipoh, the real one.. hehe,
other than that, I don't really like.
I seldom drink 3 in 1 coffee too, why?
cos i feel that the one i made taste better.
hahahahaha.... :p
It's quite a big packet, about RM 1 per packet.
Let's see how it taste..

i did not add a lot of water.
It doesn't seems to smell strong,
how it taste? hmm, not bad though, a bit sweet,
but the coffee taste is there.
so far this is the best 3 in 1 white coffee i've
ever tasted! If you are fond of white coffee,
try this out!!
