Donald & Lily Corner

I've always wanted to visit this shop whenever i go back to malacca after watching one of the episode of 'Ho Chiak'. The first time i went around 5pm+, the shop already closed. So this time i went there earlier, around 3pm and luckily the shop still opened!!

it's a shop at the back lane of jonker street.

some decoration..

more decorations...

hmm, nice..

The shop only opened from 9am - 4pm. No wonder not much ppl at the shop when we were there. and we did not have any other option but to order meesiam & cendol, as others.. all FINISHED!!! too bad ... but at least still got something to eat. hehe...

cendol, RM 1.30 per bowl.
very nice, a lot of santan. hehe..

hmmmm....... yummy!!
FL had TWO bowls!!
hehe..

mee siam, RM 3 per plate.
the mee siam actually taste quite normal,
but the sauce is REALLY good.
spicy...

We had 3 bowls of cendols and 2 plates of mee siam, total = RM 9.90. Too bad we were too late, should go earlier and tried the laksa, nasi lemak, pongteh and etc.. will definitely find a chance to go again!!

Yam Dessert

After lunch today, my aunt took out something from the freezer, said she got some dessert for me! dessert from freezer?

yam dessert.
she said she got it from my neighbor.
my neighbor ordered extra when she had
her dinner in some seafood restaurant.
one for RM 1.50.
quite expensive for a small box.

let's see what's inside.
3 'bak gor' (白果) and
sweet potato.
my aunt said put in the microwave
and heat it up for 3 minutes.

oo, smells nice!
if you like yam, you will definitely like this.
it's not too sweet too!
yum yum..

Old Cucumber Soup (老黄瓜汤)

Long long time never boiled any soup to drink, went to giant during lunch and saw the old cucumber quite nice.. so i decided to boil one small pot tonight. I bought small small old cucumber, around the size of my palm only. So small yet so expensive, RM3++ for that small little old cucumber...

after washed and cut and clean,
just pour everything inside the pot and boil
with low fire. you can either boiled with
chicken ribs or pork ribs..
i personally think pork ribs are nicer lor..
(so many red red one? that's red dates,
i accidentally pour out too many,
already wet, so no choice got to use all la..)

seedless red dates.
for a small pot (for 2 person)
10-15 should be enuf..

2 teaspoon of gei ji (枸子)
for ppl like us, worked in front of a computer
for more than 8 hours, should eat more gei ji.
it is very good for our eyes..

the old cucumber.
removed skin and seed, cut into
small chunks.
boiled on low fire till the old cucumber turned soft.
(about 1 hour + a bit..)

add a little bit of salt and
ready to be served.
(FL asked, y the soup so sweet one?
ooh, accidentally used too much
red dates lar.. :p)

My very first Passion Fruit

I've never seen or eat a passion fruit before, don't know how it taste, don't know how it looks like. When Ms.q showed the passion fruit to me this morning, i was like, huh? what's that? She told it's passion fruit, taste sour, sweet and very nice. She then gave me one to try!

passion fruit. It's very light in weight.
ms.q told me do not cut into half,
as there's a lot of juice inside.
should only cut the top part,
and use a teaspoon to eat the fruit.

i took her advice and cut the top part.
i was kind of surprised as it's quite hard
to cut it, i thought it would be soft, but it's not!!
when i cut it, immediately i can smell it.
it smells soooo nice!!! i don't know how to
describe the smell, it's like the combination of
pineapple, banana, grapes and all kinds of fruits.

juicy interior filled with numerous seeds.
ya i know what you are thinking,
it doesn't looks good. but as i said,
don't judged a book by it's cover and
don't ever judged a fruit by it's look!!
wait till you try it then only u comment. hehe..
it's sour taste makes u think of pineapple, but
it's better than pineapple 100%. it is
sour and sweet and smells really really good!

wow, SO NICE!!!!!!
why didn't i see this fruit selling in the market??
where can i find it? where? where? where?
(thanks ms.q for this superb fruit!)

Si Chuan Vege With Meat (肉丝四川榨菜)

i love to eat this si chuan vege (四川榨菜)
but i don't know why i never try to cook b4.
well, it's never too late, my very first si chuan vege.
wash the si chuan vege, cut it into small slices,
then soak it for 10 minutes
(i think it depends on what brand you buy, the one i bought,
still salty even though i soak for 10 minutes,
should soak longer.)
minced meat thin slices, marinate with a little bit of sugar,
soy sauce and pepper.

saute garlic, then toss in the meat.
fry fry fry..

add in the si chuan vege and fry fry fry..
the meat already marinate with soy sauce,
and the si chuan vege is salty, so there's no
need to add salt or soy sauce anymore.
but of cos, if ur si chuan vege is not that salty,
you can add in some soy sauce.

ready to be served!
simple and nice!

Eu Yan Sang Mooncake (余仁生 - 水果茶香月饼)

FL's sis gave us these two little mooncake from
Eu Yan Sang. It was a gift from her friend,
a hamper of Eu Yan Sang products.
Fruits mooncake? well, hopefully it's nice lar..

two little cute mooncake..
the left one - Strawberry mooncake
(草莓水果茶香月饼),
the right one - Pineapple mooncake
(风梨水果茶香月饼)
smells like jam.. hehe...

this is the Strawberry mooncake (草莓水果茶香月饼)
hmm frankly speaking, both smells like
those orange marmalade jam...
doesn't taste like strawberry to me at all..
and it's like i'm eating orange jam...

the Pineapple mooncake (风梨水果茶香月饼)
both of them looks the same, and taste
the same too..
this mooncake is even worst than the HYT!
blek.....

明明 Dim Sum @ Kepong Wai Sek Gai

This dim sum shop only opened at night,
i think there's only one dim sum
@ the Kepong Wai Sek Gai,
didn't see other stalls selling dim sum..

heard my friend said their big bao (大包)
very famous wor.. so we ordered one..

it does smells nice, even i don't like to eat
'dai bao' also think it's nice.
i guess it's becos they didn't use that much
of fat meat, that's y i feel it's nice!!

they only steamed after we picked the dim sum
besides dim sum, we ordered 2 fried
egg plant.. hmm, very oily, not nice..
as for dim sum, we ordered fish ball, 'yu mai' ..
'yu mai' very the not nice.. hehe.. fish ball
still ok la..

and the 'siu mai'..
'siu mai' also not very nice.. the skin can feel the taste
of the flour..

and lastly, the 'ha gao' and pork rib ('pai guat').
'ha gao' not nice.. got flour taste..
'pai guat' very nice...

Hmm, when we were eating, we saw a lot of ppl came to tabao. most of them tabao 'lo mai gai' and the 'dai bao' and also all sorts of 'bao'. So i've made a conclusion, which is, the 'bao' is nice, but dim sum not so nice. hehe.. For all the things we ate, and also tabao 2 'lo mai gai', total bill is RM 24.30. Hmm, price quite reasonable also la.. I surely will visit the shop again, for the BAOs.. hehe..

Roast Duck (安记烧鸭) @ Kepong Wai Sek Street

If you are familiar with Kepong area, you will definitely know that there's a very famous 'Wai Sek Gai'. (a street with all sorts of food..) There are Ba Kut Teh, Dim Sum, Prawn Mee, Roast Duck and lot's more.

I'm not a person that likes to eat duck, but then, there are so many stalls at this 'wai sek gai' selling roast duck and you can always see so many ppl eating there, it must be good then. So here i go, go try la..

out of so many stalls, i picked this, 安记烧鸭,
y?? well, this is the stall with most ppl, and also
at 3pm++ can still see a lot of ppl
queue up tabao the roast duck..
must be good lar..

the menu.
besides roast duck, they also sell
roast chicken, vege, soup (dan tong)
and etc. the price of the soup seems quite
reasonable. but we didn't order,
we already ordered drinks and also scared
cannot finished. hehe..

the chili is those normal chicken rice chili.
i don't really like this kind of chili sauce
cos it's not spicy and also after eating
will have bad breathe. :p

very big plate of rice.
it doesn't taste like white rice and
it doesn't taste like 'yao fan' (油饭)
as well.

Kangkung with belacan.
they served the vege first, nice and quite a lot too.
if i'm not mistaken, it's RM4 per plate.

After the vege, we waited around 7 minutes,
then they served us this sauce. i think this
is for the roast duck.
wonder what took them so long to
chopped the roast duck. hehe.. fry vege
faster than chopping???

FINALLY!!!
from the right, roast duck, roast pork
and roast chicken.
hmm, doesn't look very nice to me..
let's try...

well, doesn't looks nice, doesn't taste very nice as well. roast chicken, normal la.. can eat at those chicken rice stall, roast pork, some shop even taste better.. as for the roast duck, it's actually tasteless, without the sauce, you can't really taste anything... I seldom eat duck, maybe duck really tasteless one?? hehe, not sure lar.. The nicest would be the kangkung with belacan!! hehe... So total how much? RM20 for all this...
