Honeymoon Dessert (西贡-满记甜品)

When we were about to leave Lantau Island, we saw this shop that is full of people. My friend said this Honeymoon dessert is quite famous in HK, almost as famous as Hui Lao Shan Healthy Dessert (许留山). Hmm, really that famous? Since the weather is so hot and since we are thirsty and since it is that famous, then there's no reason we should not try lor, right?

take away counter/cashier
Queuing up to order

Full house!!

FL and his friend ordered Mango Juice (HKD 10+), or something like that, can't really remember the name. Taste normal only lar. hehe..

My 'Yong Zi Gam Lou' 杨枝甘露 (HKD 20+),
this is super nice lar!!!
Must try must try!!

Lantau Island's Moutain Water Tao Fu Fa (大屿山 - 山水豆腐花)

When we finally climbed up and down the stairs under the hot sun to see the Big Buddha, we were all sweat like a pig. So we all decided to stop by this little shop to rest a while plus to try the tao fu fa. Heard HK is famous of tau fu fa also wor.. is that true?

Lantau Island's Moutain Water Tao Fu Fa
(大屿山 - 山水豆腐花)

Tao Fu Fa (豆腐花)

There's hot or cold for you to choose. To me, this is really nothing special lar. I think I can get nicer one in Malaysia!! That is why, it doesn't really matters if the food taste not so nice, as long as the name can attract ppl, they can still get business!! hehe..

Vegetarian Food at Lantau Island (大屿山吃斋)

What's so special about the vegetarian food at Lantau Island(大屿山)? Well, I also not sure but seems like when people mentioned Lantau island, they will automatically link to vegetarian food. So must try when I'm at 'dai yu san' lor, right?

Before you climb the stairs up to the Big Buddha, you will see this ticketing counter on your right. If you want to try their vegetarian food, this is the place to buy the tickets.

Meal ticket counter

the price list

So what's the difference between General (HKD 60) and Deluxe (HKD 150)? For Deluxe, you will have your own table (no need to share with others) and you will have better dishes. As for General, slightly different dishes and also might need to share table with other people. After listening to the explanation, we decided to get the General, HKD 60 per person. RM 30 per person wor, also consider quite expensive already lar..Share table also nvm lar, as long as the dishes no need to share with others.

HKD 60 x 3 person, so altogether HKD 180

We decided to makan first before we start to climb the stairs, not yet eat where got energy right? The place to eat is just across the street, opposite the big buddha.

the makan place.

the entrance

We managed to get ourselves a table for 3,
small table so don't need to share with other people.

It was already 2pm+ but still a lot of people.

We were not very sure whether we need to self service or wait for ppl to serve us. After waited about 10 minutes, someone gave us a pot of chinese tea, that pot is enough for 10 ppl!! Anyway, we waited for another 10 minutes for our vegetarian dishes.

White rice

Celery (芹菜)

Sweet & Sour Tofu
this is nice!!

Spring roll, this one so so only.

HK Choy Sam

Lotus root soup

4 different dishes plus a soup, not bad right. How it taste? Well, I won't say it's super delicious but it consider quite nice also. Everything was served hot and you can refill the rice (i think) but not the vege dishes gua..

If you happen to go Lantau Island one day, you should really try their vegetarian food. It's worth to try!

No charges for initial consultation!

What is the first thing that come across your mind when you heard the word "attorney"? I bet the first thing that flashed across your mind would be the expensive consultation fees! A lot of people suffered harm due to the negligence of others but they are afraid to consult the lawyer as they afraid they will need to pay before they even started to sue the person involved.

If you are one of these people, here's a good news for you. The Austin Personal Injury Lawyer at OMD in Austin, Texas will not charge you a single cent for your initial consultation. As their client, you will not need to pay until they help you recover money from those who are responsible for your injury. Isn't this a great news? Contact them today and consult them if you are one of the victims.

Chinese Red Bean Pudding (缽仔糕)

I hope to find and try the chinese red bean pudding 'put zai gou' (缽仔糕) when I was in Hong Kong but I can't seems to find any. Where to get this? I really wanted to try!! When FL asked his friend (who worked in HK) where to get this, his friend said, hey, my place there got one stall selling this, I'll get 2 pieces for you guys when we meet tomorrow (he's gonna follow us to the Lantao Island, apparently he haven't been there although he had worked in HK for almost a year).

So the next day, as promised, he brought us 2 pieces of 'put zai gou'!!

chinese red bean pudding 'put zai gou' (缽仔糕)

see the back? full of red beans!!

FL said he doesn't like it but I LOVE it!! I do not know how to describe the taste but if you love kuih stuff and you love red bean, I bet you will love this too! Yummy!!

I had the famous HK curry fish ball for breakfast!

Before we headed to Lantao Island (大屿山), we decided to have our breakfast first at a shop near where we stay (right in front of the entrance of the MTR station, Yao Ma Tei).

A small shop near our hotel, 通达食店

As usual, I ordered coffee, can't lived without coffee, hehe, although I don't really like the HK coffee. better than nothing mar.. hehe..

FL's soya bean..

I ordered the sticky rice but I didn't know their sticky rice comes with peanut and soya sauce. Well, it's not too bad but not too nice as well, maybe i'm just not used to the soya sauce and peanut!
porriadge, ok lar, but tasteless. hehe..
But i think it's good as breakfast.

Finally, the famous HK curry fish ball!

I've been wanting to try this, it smells really nice! Their fish ball is different from ours, but still I like it!! You can really taste the curry when you eat the fish ball, but i think lot's of MSG lar, cos after eating this very thirsty. :p All of these took us HKD 45, not a very satisfying breakfast though..

Pokemon Noodles House (小精灵板面之家)

I don't remember it's on a public holiday or a weekend, FL and I were looking for something to eat for lunch. We round and round and round and saw this shop with lot's of people. Yes, full house!! What's so special about this restaurant? We decided to try it out!

It was about 1pm when we reached there and we were lucky to find a table at the corner of the shop.

Pokemon Noodles House (小精灵板面之家)
Sorry, i'm don't remember where's this place,
if i'm not mistaken,
I think it's Segambut. :p

The Menu

Our place is just opposite the kitchen so I can see clearly how they cook. There are 3 people cooking in the kitchen and one of them is the person who holds the money. Which means, customer pays the staff outside, the staff brings the money to this cook, so this cook will then stop cooking and keep the money. No wonder so many people waiting ar, how can a cook be the cashier as well? it's not hygienic also wat...

Finally after waiting for an hour ++, our pan mee arrived!!

this is nice.. spicy...

Fish Cake, Rm 3.50
so so only lar..

My pan mee soup, RM 4.00
The soup is nice but the pan mee too thick,
the taste of flour still very strong.

FL's spicy pan mee, RM 4.50
hmm, he regret ordering this,
so u know nice or not lar hehe..

The pan mee soup not bad lar, but seriously I do not think it's worth to wait for 1 hour++ for a bowl of pan mee like this...Poor management, waiter/waitress all blur blur, cook is also the cashier.. If only they can speed up a bit..

I love Dark Chocolate!

I bet this phrase sounds familiar, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". What about this phrase, "A dark chocolate a day keeps the doctor away"? A lot of people dare not eat chocolate because they feel that chocolate is fattening and sweet and not good for health. If you are one of them, loves chocolate but afraid it may harm your health, why not try dark chocolate?

Eating a small piece of dark chocolate everyday can help lower our blood pressure. Besides this, dark chocolate contains antioxidants which can get rid of free radicals, destructive molecules that are implicated in heart disease and other diseases. Apart from all these benefits, delicious dark chocolate is a perfect gift which suitable for all kinds of occasions, valentines day, birthday, Christmas and etc.

If you are wondering where you can get delicious dark chocolate from around the world, you probably should check out http://www.chocolatepath.com. They have all kinds of dark chocolate such as bars, toffee, truffles and many more. If you ever run out of ideas what to get for a friend, a lover or a relative, chocolate is always the perfect gift. Oh ya, Christmas is around the corner and if you still do not know what to get for your friends or relatives, you may consider dark chocolate too!!

Can only get this after 9pm at McDonald!! (麦当劳 - 足三两)

By the time we were back from Lan Kwai Fong (兰桂坊), it was almost 12am in the morning!! So tired and yet we have not taken our dinner yet!! What to eat? The easiest and fastest will be McDonald lar, there's one near where we stay!

FL decided to try the Quarter Pounder (足三两) after introducing by his friend. What's so special about this burger? Well, you can only get this after 9pm!! Not sure why they had this rule, hehe...

Quarter Pounder (足三两)

To me, this is similar to the Big Mac but according to FL, this is much more nicer. At least the beef also bigger slice lar.. Super full after having this!!

I ordered McChicken, nothing special la...

Having McD in HK is not cheap also lar, this two sets costs us HKD 55.30. But all food in HK also not cheap lar, hehe.. so consider quite ok also lar the price.

Homemade Fried spring onion pancake (葱油饼)

I dislike spring onion, dislike dried shrimp (虾米) but somehow, I love this fried spring onion pancake. hehe, strange right? It's actually very easy to make, but it takes time to fry.

You will need spring onion, chop chop chop..
if you like spring onion, you can put more.

shallots, chop chop chop

flour, don't worry, not the whole packet. hehe..

dried shrimp (虾米)

add the flour with water, mix well
(not too thick, not too watery)

add in all the ingredients and mix well. add in a little bit of salt.

We can now starts to fry.. heat up the frying pan/wok with oil preferably use non stick pan.

pour one scoop in, try to make it as thin/flat

slowly turn to the other side when
it turned to yellowish/light brown

Homemade Fried spring onion pancake (葱油饼)

There you go, a bowl like this can have 10++ pieces, it's cheap, it's tasty but it takes quite some time to fry. Taste great with chili sauce, try it out yourself some time!!

DAORAE Korean BBQ Restaurant @ Kepong

I never stepped my foot on a Korean restaurant before because I thought it would be expensive and I'm not sure what food is nice. Finally few days ago (Tuesday), just before we start the raya holidays, we decided to go try. hehe, oh yes, just an excuse to go eat nice food lar..

DAORAE Korean BBQ Restaurant @ Kepong
just opposite Carrefour

The Menu

tea (i think)

They will served this drink to everyone, yes it's free. Of cos, you can order another drink if you want. It looks like tea but you can actually taste coffee. wuahahaha.. what a weird combination. I don't really like the taste. However, FL said it's nice.

this is for the BBQ, every table has one.

what's this?

the switch to on/off the bbq thing. nice!!

the super long chopstick and spoon. hehe..

I nv tried korean food before so i let FL to decide what to eat. By seeing the menu, I also don't know what to order. hehe.. I looked around and saw there's a lot of people, see. almost full, i guess we've picked the right korean restaurant!

After we placed our orders, they served these to us. Most of it are salty, but some really nice, oh ya, you can asked for refill to, and yes, it's free. So eat as much as you can!! hehe..

White Rice, RM 5

FL asked for a bowl or rice and guess how much is this bowl of rice? RM 5!! wow, I can buy 1kg of rice with RM 5, super expensive!!

Kimchi jeon gol (small), RM 50

this is what we order, they said for 2 person, but i think it's enough for 3-4 person!! How it taste, sweet sweet, sour sour, spicy spicy, hehe, actually it taste quite nice too. There's kimchi, lean pork, tofu, mushrooms, some vege and mee. But after eating for a while, I felt a bit geli, maybe because the taste is too strong..We can't really finish this, I think if 4 person shared this, then it will be nice!!

After we asked for the bill, they served this to us, and yes, it's free too... hehe..

dono what drink, but taste quite nice. hehe..

water melon..sweet...

Our bill = RM 60.50(10% servcive charge), we regret that we did not try the BBQ, all other tables tried the BBQ, it must be nice. We will definitely come to this shop again to try the Korean BBQ!!
